Collection: Blood Sugar Management

Blood Sugar Supplements: Balance Your Levels, Enhance Your Life

One of the primary concerns for individuals with diabetes is hyperglycemia, a condition characterized by higher-than-normal blood sugar levels. Frequently high blood sugar can cause nerve damage, arterial damage, and organ failure. There are two main types of high blood sugar:

  • Fasting Hyperglycemia: Observed when a patient’s blood sugar levels are higher than 130mg/dL after 8 hours without any food or beverages.
  • Post-prandial Hyperglycemia: Occurs when a patient’s blood sugar levels are over 180mg/dL two hours after eating.

Causes and Symptoms of High Blood Sugar

High blood sugar can be caused by several factors, including stress, inactivity, skipping insulin or blood sugar medication, overeating carbohydrates, infection, illness, and strenuous physical activity. Symptoms of high blood sugar include:

  • Increased thirst
  • Low concentration
  • Blurry vision
  • Headaches
  • Frequent urination
  • Fatigue
  • Weight loss

If left untreated, high blood sugar can lead to more severe conditions such as slow-healing sores and cuts, vaginal and skin infections, worsening vision, nerve damage, erectile dysfunction, and damage to the eyes, blood vessels, or kidneys.

Effective Management of High Blood Sugar

Treatment for high blood sugar in diabetics begins with taking prescribed medication regularly and on time. Doctors will request several readings until blood sugar levels return to normal. Common methods for managing high blood sugar include:

  • Drinking more water to expel excess sugar through the urine
  • Regular exercise to lower blood sugar
  • Changing eating habits to reduce excess sugar
  • Switching medication if necessary
